Location:

"Attack on Kekkoskylä 1944" is a one-day scenario game set during the Second World War. The event is not a competition for airsoft-kills, but a historically themed scenario with a strong emphasis on immersion. The game will not be without action or tactics though of course! The aim is to keep the game continuously going throughout the day, with changes to the pace and intensity of the game coming according to the wishes and tactical decisions of the players.

Beginners in WW2-airsoft are especially welcome:

  • There are a couple of complete sets of equipment available to be borrowed from the gamemasters to equip Soviet or German fighters.
  • Equipment limits are loose. There is also a partisan side to the game, for which all you need is period-style civilian clothing.
  • No age limit.
  • Feel free to ask about borrowing sets of equipment and carpools/rideshares on Discord.
  • There is no minimum or maximum number of players. The event will be held even if the gamemasters are the only ones participating!

Discussions about equipment, carpooling/ridesharing and other event related matters will mainly take place on the WW2/WW1 Airsoft Finland discord server: https://discord.gg/q6A4nSZTgM
Alternatively, there is also the Ww2 Airsoft Finland Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/366539996762945
Information about the Häämäki forest game area can be found on the Turkusoft website: https://www.turkusoft.fi/pelialueet/haamaki/

Tickets are 5€ for members of Turkusoft association and 10€ for non-members. Payment on site. Mobile Pay/cash.

Backstory

"May 1944. The Red Army is redeploying its military resources towards Karelian Isthmus and the shores of Lake Ladoga for the coming summer offensive. The front in Lapland has remained stagnant for years, but now the commanders of the Finnish and German forces stationed in northern Finland see an opportunity to revive the front; the Red Army's defenses in the Murmansk region have weakened. Finnish and German soldiers on the frontlines are reassembled for a new offensive. The task is to destroy the Soviets’ overextended advance guard and to pierce their supply line. The attack on Kekkoskylä is to be one step closer towards cutting the Murmansk railway, if the Red Army fighters falter."

Arrival & Schedule

Särväntie 60, 20380, Kaarina. Parking at the game area is by the gravel roadside next to the game. It is not allowed to park on the grassy road between the farmfield and the forest. This due to the fact that the area is agricultural, so even larger machines must be able to get past the cars to the farmfields.

  • 09:00-10:30 Opening of the area, arrival and registration for the game
  • 10:45 Beginning briefing
  • 11:00 Moving to faction bases
  • 11:30 Start of the game at the latest
  • 19:00 End of the game at the latest

Gear

The equipment limits are very loose, in order to accommodate beginners who are even slightly interested in WW-airsoft. As a further reminder, feel free to ask for equipment on the WW2 Airsoft Finland Discord, the game management will be happy to lend you some.

Minimum equipment for  Finnish Army, Heer / SS, Red Army

  • Any WWII-model uniform fitting for your chosen faction. Helmet/field cap/sidecap for headwear.  Suitable leather belt.

Additional equipment (rewarded with a higher BB-limit)

  • Helmet instead of a hat!
  • Combat gear like ammunition pouches, bread- or gas mask bags, an entrenching tool in its pouch, etc.
  • Other equipment, such as: For the Soviets, a “meshok” backpack, a “plash palatka” roll tent. For the Germans, an “A-frame” combat pack.

Players wearing additional equipment will be rewarded with a slightly higher BB-limit depending on the weight of the accessories carried. This is to encourage players to equip and dress in a more realistic fashion (for example wearing a helmet) rather than carrying as light and little equipment as possible as is common in airsoft.

Soviet Partisans

  • Old clothes similar to the civilian clothing of the era.

Weapons: All WWII-style weapons. Bolt action rifles with a wooden stock such as the VSR-10 are allowed as well,
however, tactical rails should be removed or concealed, for example by camouflage.

Special roles

The game also features following roles in the spirit of strategy and the game’s theme: squad leader, platoon leader, medic. Please contact the game management on Discord or Facebook if you are interested in any of these roles, or if you have any role suggestions for the event.

Rules

The event will use Turkusoft's game rules, with minor additions in the name of the theme of the game. The Turkusoft rules can be found here: https://www.turkusoft.fi/saannot/

Additions

  • Gauze bandages are used to treat the wounded. Details of the distribution of bandages and possible medic roles will be decided on the day of the game according to the balance between the factions.
  • The helmet protects against artillery fire; the player is wounded instead of eliminated.
  • Use of own airsoft grenades and pyrotechnics is allowed, if there's no active forest fire warnings. Smoke grenades must not produce white, orange or red smoke. Orange and red smoke are international distress signals and white smoke can easily be associated with fire.
  • Instead of “KNIFE” or “BANG” rules, use of safe rubber knives and other boffer melee weapons or slow-motion larp-style hand-to-hand combat are preferred methods of elimination for the sake of flair and immersion. However, remember to keep in mind the consent of both players, which will be clarified before the game.
  • The game has BB-limits, which limit the number of ammunition a player can carry on their person. Machine guns (e.g. MG42, Maxim) do not have a BB-limit. Players carrying a heavier amount of equipment will also have a slightly higher BB-limit, see "Gear.” 250 BBs for submachinegunner, 100BBs for riflemen. With extra equipment submachinegunners are allowed to carry 350 BBs and riflemen 150BBs.
  • Roleplaying is especially recommended; for example, when taking a hit, grunt or scream in agony and remain on the ground as a suffering wounded trooper.
